Just minutes from central Rotorua, next to the world-famous Whakarewarewa mountain biking trails, Secret Spot Hot Tubs offers a forest experience like no other.
Relax in your own cedar hot tub filled with fresh spring water, surrounded by native ferns. Enjoy local craft drinks delivered to your hot tub at the push of a button, and stunning views into the Whakarewarewa Forest. Then, cool off in our complimentary cold plunge tubs.
Your forest hot tub experience includes a 45-minute soak, cold plunge tub access, a locker for your belongings and free Shinny Dip foot hot tubs for after your hot tub. Each hot tub can accommodate up to six guests.
Our forest hot tubs provide an idyllic setting to reconnect with family, friends, and nature.
Private Sauna Experience

Refresh in a stone-heated sauna with views over magically lit ponds and small waterfalls. Designed for up to four people in your group, these traditional saunas are made with fragrant Japanese hinoki wood and use volcanic rocks sourced from Finland.
Our nearby cedar cold plunge tubs allow you to embrace the benefits of contrast therapy, creating an invigorating experience.
Your private sauna experience includes a 40-minute sauna, as well as complimentary cold plunge tubs, chilled drinking water and access to our Shinny Dip foot hot tubs. Towels, swimwear, and robes are all available for hire at reception.
Our Sauna Corner blends traditional nordic practices with a distinctly kiwi atmosphere for a truly unique experience.
BaseCamp Street Food
& Craft Bar
Stay a while and explore our BaseCamp Street Food Kitchen – a unique safari tent with a craft bar, couches, and fire pit. Try our tasty smash burgers, enjoy manuka-roasted coffee, or rest your legs in a Shinny Dip foot hot tub. These foot spas are free with any purchase and do not require a booking.
At night, Secret Spot Hot Tubs transforms. Outdoor campfires, glowing boardwalks, and colourful lights illuminate the forest. For the Forest Hot Tub Experience, we recommend allowing around 1.15 hours. This gives you plenty of time to settle in, enjoy your 45-minute soak and take in the forest surroundings. It also allows for 15mins of changing time either side of your experience.
For the Private Sauna Experience, allow around 1 hour. Your session includes 40 minutes in the sauna, with extra time to change in the private changing area.
Want to enjoy both? Allow around 2 hours for the full hot tub and sauna experience. We’d recommend relaxing in a forest hot tub after your private sauna session, and allow some time to make the most of Secret Spot Hot Tubs by staying for a drink, Shinny Dip foot spa, or smash burger.

Absolutely! You’re welcome to visit BaseCamp Street Food Kitchen without booking a hot tub or sauna experience. Come in for a coffee, lunch, a drink or a snack and enjoy the forest setting.
You’ll also receive complimentary access to our Shinny Dip foot spas so you can relax after your forest adventure.
You do not need to make a booking for our café and Shinny Dip area, these run on a first-come first-served basis.

Please bring your own swimwear and towels. Robes, towels and swimwear are also available to hire or purchase from our reception.

Yes! Children aged 5 and over are welcome to enjoy our hot tubs and saunas with their families.
Children under 5 are not permitted to use the hot tubs or saunas for health and safety reasons, but prams and strollers are welcome on site, so your little ones can sit beside the hot tub.
Children under 5 are also welcome in our BaseCamp cafe and Shinny Dip foot spa areas.
If you want to bring the whole family, we also welcome dogs on a lead.
